The Lake District boasts some of the best climbing in Britain and
Lanehead has some excellent single pitch crags nearby.
Most climbing sessions at Lanehead are run at Single pitch
crags where students are able to assist their peers and take some
responsibility for the safety of other group members. It is an excellent activity
for developing trust amongst the students.
We also have an outdoor climbing wall at the centre which
has a variety of routes to suit a range of abilities; however we still prefer
where ever possible to take the students away from the centre to experience
‘the real thing'.
Having an MIC and an MIA on the staff team enables us to run
GCSE courses or specialised skills courses if requested and all our staff are
qualified to at least SPA.
We can also offer multi pitch climbing on request for
people not resident at the centre or groups staying at the centre at an extra
cost due to the high staffing ratio required.
