Lanehead has its own boathouse situated a short walk from
the centre on the East shores of Coniston (for those Swallows and Amazons fans
it was featured in the original film).
Both Coniston and Lanehead have a strong historical link
with sailing and we are fortunate in having a fleet of Toppers and a fleet of
Picos at the centre.
Under the supervision of RYA instructors or senior
instructors groups are able to sail either two up or individually with safety
cover provided at all times.
It is one of the most rewarding activities for the
participants who are able to develop quickly in these ‘easy to sail' boats. For
many young people it is the first time that they have been in control of a
powered craft and most are able to undertake a short journey at the end of a
half day introductory session.
